B.Y.O.M. COFFEE DAY + MERCH SALE!

FAREWELL FROM MS. RACHEL

Dear Parents,

I wanted to let you know that Friday, April 26th will be my last day as the Library Aide at Mt. Washington.

When I started this job, I was just a parent who wanted to get our library opened and after two wonderful years, it’s time for me to turn the page to a new chapter.

I will still be a parent at MWE and look forward to volunteering in the library and helping the new library aide bring her ideas to life.

Thank you to the teachers, staff, parents, and students for always making me feel so appreciated. It’s been a joy and a privilege.

Sincerely,
Rachel Garza

WE'LL MISS YOU, MS. RACHEL

We cannot let Ms. Rachel leave without celebrating her accomplishments and showing her gratitude for the amazing work that she's done in the school library and for our kids!

Ms. Rachel has put in loads of her time and energy since taking on this position in November of 2022. Prior to this, the school's library had been closed to the students despite efforts to interview and hire a library aide. Ms. Rachel, who is a parent at MWE, became aware of this need while volunteering on the PTA Board. So she decided to get the necessary training and apply for the position.

The moment she set foot on campus, the most amazing transformation of the school library in decades began to take shape. Over months of tedious work, Ms. Rachel single-handedly performed a much-needed major overhaul, update, and reorganization effort of every book on every shelf in the library. And for the first time, she opened the library to students during recess, offering them a quiet place to read or do arts and crafts projects. Ms. Rachel brought back regular weekly library visits for every classroom at MWE, often visiting classrooms to read to the students. Lastly, her support and guidance throughout the PTA's Annual Book Fairs has been unwavering and most appreciated.

Thank you, Ms. Rachel, for your dedication to the students, teachers and your MWE community! You will be missed!
