After School Enrichment Classes

Our Mt. Washington Elementary students can enjoy a robust offering of after school classes that enrich their educational experience. MWPTA brings a mix of classes from beloved members of our community to trusted enrichment programs!

School Enrichment classes are meant to help support the varied interests of your children and are not an after school care program.

Hiking Adventures with Kids (HAWKs) LA • offsite*

*The program picks up and drops off students at MWE, but the program is offsite at various locations

HAWKs (Hiking Adventures With Kids) returns to Mount Washington Elementary on Mondays and Tuesday.

Join us in the field for after-school exploration, community building, and fun across the seasons. Activities vary by day, environment and group interest, but include hiking, herping, bird watching, journaling, nature crafts (dream catchers, mandalas, seed bombs, insect hotels), nature-focused games, foraging, and more!

Our highly trained staff will facilitate lasting relationships and reveal the incredible biodiversity of our local environment.

HAWKs will pick up students at school and return to school for parent pick up.

Knitting with Que (grades 2–6)

Radical Cooks: Seasonal Eats

Join us as we traipse around the planet in search of tasty treats from various countries. We’ll learn the origin of traditional foods, try our hand at different table settings and manners, cook, and then sample these sweet and savory delights.

Cook’s note: this series was inspired by our first Mt. Washington class, many of whom expressed a desire to learn more about foods from different countries. The kids spoke. We listened.

When? Thursdays, January 22nd - May 21 (no class on April 2nd and April 9th)

Choose from:

2:45 pm - 3:45 pm session (recommended for K-2 grades)

3:45 pm to 4:45 pm session (recommended for 3-6th grades)

Where? Mt. Washington Elementary School, Lounge/Kitchen Room

The cooking class series consists of 16 classes
